This weekend Ryan and I drove to Sam's Club and picked up the swing set that we got for Preston for his birthday, although a month early. We have a summer with weekends filled with activities so this weekend and next weekend is our only free time until the end of July so we wanted to get started on the assembly. I had been reading the on-line reviews on the swing set and it says it take two skilled men 24 hours to put together. Whoa. Now this is going to be a project. The instruction manual, at 40 pages long, had 107 steps.
The set came in 5 boxes plus the 10 ft slide. We loaded into the pick-up truck and started home at a snails pace, afraid the slide would "slide" out the back of the truck and cause a 50 car pile-up on Route 77. Trust me I pictured every detail of it in my head. We made it home safely though and Saturday morning Ryan and I began putting it together. Conveniently Preston decided he would choose Saturday to not take a nap so our process was slow but Preston was a good boy and loved helping with all of his tools. End of Saturday, we made it to step 17.
Sunday after church my dad and Ryan's dad arrived to help out, and i must say the three of them made much more progress than Ryan and i were able to. By the end of the day they had made it to step 87. We are hoping to finish it up this week after work a few nights. If not then on Saturday.
Preston is so excited and every time he looks out the window he says "ohhhhhhhhhh, wookie", and then "me play in it". It's going to be hard to keep him off of it for the next week or so.
